Guardians of the Moorland landscape NYMA is the charity working to safeguard the North Yorkshire moorland landscape for everyone to enjoy. We are the recognised voluntary society for the North York Moors National Park and welcome all to support our work. Run mainly by volunteers, our aim 'Is to protect and enhance the characteristic beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors for present and future generations'. We are a constructive, forward-looking organisation and we work for the continued care of the moors. We want to see development which respects the existing and special character of the Moors while taking into account the changing needs of local residents and working communities, as well as the needs of the National Park visitors. Our vision is of a beautiful, diverse and sustainable countryside. We want to see environmentally friendly farming and forestry, and ensure there remain wild places unspoilt by development. We see thriving villages and attractive towns, connected by excellent public transport. NYMA scrutinises and influences planning applications and encourages sustainable, environmentally friendly transport and land-use policies that favour diversity and natural beauty in the landscape. |
